J. Lo made a career comeback, while OWN's failure stalls Winfrey.
As rumors once again swirl about Jennifer Lopez possibly leaving American Idol, there's one thing we do know for sure, she just snagged the number one spot on the Forbes List.
Lopez, who earned a cool $52 million over the last 12 months, bumped Lady Gaga from the top perch (Gaga is in fifth place this year, also with $52 million) on the Forbes 2012 Celebrity 100 List. But anyone who follows the list knows it’s not only about dollars but it’s also about celeb stature. J. Lo’s high profile Idol
gig, which allowed her to promote her previously ailing music career
and overall brand, led to endorsement deals with L’Oreal and Gillette.
In addition, the Bronx native has a clothing line at Kohl’s, a top
selling fragrance and announced her upcoming summer tour with Enrique Iglesias.
Oprah Winfrey
again holds the number two spot on the list, despite being the highest
earner on the list at $165 million, but that’s mostly thanks to her
successful spinoff shows (Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray, Dr. Oz), O Magazine
and her radio deal with Sirius. What has hurt Winfrey’s status is her
ratings challenged OWN cable network, which has struggled since its
launch in 2011.
Other honorable mentions who’ve made the list include Justin Bieber, who ranks No. 3, Rihanna, in the No. 4 slot, BeyoncĂ©, in the No. 16 spot, Hollywood titan Tyler Perry, in the No. 20 slot, and Dr. Dre, who slipped into the top 30 at No. 26.
Don't count Lady O out just yet. If a comeback was
in the cards for Jenny from the Block Winfrey is still definitely a
contender.Talk bout MONEY!
