Nicki Minaj Credits Mel B for Her British Accent

The rapper copied Scary Spice's facial expressions and tone when creating her alter ego.

Nicki Minaj is known for her collection of alter egos and one of her more interesting characters carries a posh British voice, but where exactly did the Trini rapper learn the accent? Turns out Minaj had a few muses from across the pond that she'd imitate to get the accent down, including Mel B of the Spice Girls and Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie series.

"There are so many, but one person was Scary Spice. I used to listen to her all the time and try to make the same faces she'd make when she was talking," Minaj told The Guardian. "Oh, and Hermione from Harry Potter."

The singer, who was in the UK to promote her MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick and Lipglass, also revealed her top five shades of pink: "Flamingo pink. Hot pink. Baby pink! HOT PINK! And fuchsia."
