Jennifer Lopez Tops Oprah Winfrey on Forbes List

J. Lo made a career comeback, while OWN's failure stalls Winfrey.

Jennifer Lopez
As rumors once again swirl about Jennifer Lopez possibly leaving American Idol, there's one thing we do know for sure, she just snagged the number one spot on the Forbes List.

Lopez, who earned a cool $52 million over the last 12 months, bumped Lady Gaga from the top perch (Gaga is in fifth place this year, also with $52 million) on the Forbes 2012 Celebrity 100 List. But anyone who follows the list knows it’s not only about dollars but it’s also about celeb stature. J. Lo’s high profile Idol gig, which allowed her to promote her previously ailing music career and overall brand, led to endorsement deals with L’Oreal and Gillette. In addition, the Bronx native has a clothing line at Kohl’s, a top selling fragrance and announced her upcoming summer tour with Enrique Iglesias.

Oprah Winfrey again holds the number two spot on the list, despite being the highest earner on the list at $165 million, but that’s mostly thanks to her successful spinoff shows (Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray, Dr. Oz), O Magazine and her radio deal with Sirius. What has hurt Winfrey’s status is her ratings challenged OWN cable network, which has struggled since its launch in 2011.

Other honorable mentions who’ve made the list include Justin Bieber, who ranks No. 3, Rihanna, in the No. 4 slot, BeyoncĂ©, in the No. 16 spot, Hollywood titan Tyler Perry, in the No. 20 slot, and Dr. Dre, who slipped into the top 30 at No. 26.

Don't count Lady O out just yet. If a comeback was in the cards for Jenny from the Block Winfrey is still definitely a contender.Talk bout MONEY!

Dr. Dre Wants To Take A Music Break

The icon also talks Kendrick Lamar and Slim The Mobster.

Dr. Dre is a man with many options and sometimes even those gentlemen want to relax for awhile.

The Aftermath head spoke to FADER TV at the recent opening of his Beats By Dre store in New York and admitted that he didn't think his company would be this successful.

"I'm shocked myself as to how well they're doing, we're going to keep the exciting product coming," Dre said. "We're trying to be second to Apple and I don't think that's a bad position."

Dre said he began in the industry, learning the bare bones of production.

"I started out on a mixing board first when I was 15 or 16 years old," Dre recalled. "I had the opportunity to go in this guy's garage that had a mixing board so I learned that technic first before I touched a drum machine or was even interested in producing … which I think gave me an edge over the other producers out there."

And though Eminem and 50 Cent's mentor has plans for two new MCs, he's ready to relax for a bit himself.

"These are the next two artists I'm working on, Slim The Mobster and Kendrick Lamar, I think that's when I'm going to wrap it up for a minute because I've been working on music for 27 years now," he said. "The longest I've ever been out of the studio in 27 years is two weeks, so I feel like I want to take a little bit of a break. I never want to stop music, it's like air to me. I going to take a break and enjoy some time with the family until I get that itch to go back in."Now ain't we gonna miss him???

50 Cent's Street King Immortal Due November 13

After a long wait, fans finally get a release date.

50 Cent's fifth album for Interscope finally has a release date. After a year of protracted battles with the label, during which he released both a mixtape and a free digital album outside of its purview, the new project, titled Street King Immortal, will arrive November 13.

Interscope announced the release date today in a press release that followed a number of teases about the album from 50 on Twitter.

"Its coming STREET KING IMMORTAL I had a great meeting today about it," he wrote late last week, later adding: "Jimmy Iovine said STREET KING IMMORTAL is the best album I've made since GET RICH OR DIE TRYING."

Fif recently released the first single from the project "New Day" featuring Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys. His street album 5 (Murder By Numbers) was released earlier this month.I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER FIFTY`.....>>.

Xzibit Preps First Album in Seven Years

The L.A. vet recruits Game, Dr. Dre, Wiz Khalifa and more for his musical comeback.

Xzibit New Album
After seven years away from the mic, Xzibit is looking to pimp his career. The L.A. rap vet is gearing up to release Napalm, his first album since 2006. X has been quiet since 2007, when his popular MTV show Pimp My Ride was canceled and he began focusing on his burgeoning acting career. He’s hoping to change all that with Napalm, set to drop early next year.

"If you know hip hop, you’re going to love and appreciate Napalm," Xzibit said in a statement. "The tone of the album is a testament to what I’ve been through in the last six years."
And he’s got some serious help. The 18-track album includes guest verses from Wiz Khalifa, Prodigy, Crooked I, Game, Slim The Mobster and Tha Alkaholiks. On the production side of things, X reconnects with his former mentor, Dr. Dre, and also links with AkonDavid Banner, S1, Focus and U.K.’s Beat Butcher.

Xzibit draws first blood with the title track and lead single, produced by 1500 or Nothin and featuring Travis Barker on drums and DJ Sid of Slipknot on the tables. The head-banging, hard-rock inspired song is a new sound for X, and it’s being accompanied by a new look as well — the militarist video, inspired by and dedicated to American soldiers, was shot in Iraq. "It was surreal," X said of his experience to the war-torn country. "We visited places like Saddam Hussein’s Palace and actually filmed my video and documentary in there.” Xzibit’s trip will be examined in even more depth via a four-part documentary released in installments online. (Check out the first part here.)

X is boosting his comeback attempts even further with a role in Code Name: Geronimo, hitting screens next year. In addition, he’s currently on the road rocking stages on this year’s Rock the Bells festival tour. And another single, "Up Out the Way," featuring E-40, is in the clip.

X hopes it all adds up to an explosive return to the spotlight when Napalm drops. "I’m ready to kick some a--," he said.

Drop a bomb on ‘em.!!!

Hologram Tupac Company Goes Bankrupt

Visual effects company files for Chapter 11.

e

The hologram projection of rap icon Tupac Shakur at this year's Coachella music and arts festival was an international sensation, but that wasn't enough to prevent one of the company's that created the illusion from going out of business. Digital Domain, the visual effects company that created the CG Tupac image, filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday.

Digital Domain had only gone public last November. Though it filed for Chapter 11, it has already sold its core business to the private investment firm Searchlight Capital Partners for $15 million.

Founded nearly 20 years ago, the company had difficulty bringing in enough revenue to keep pace with rising production costs in recent years. Digital Domain was co-founded by film giant James Cameron and worked on several high profile, effects-laden blockbusters before Tupac, including Titanic and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

What this all means for the future of Hologram Tupac is still up in the air,bet snoop will keep him UP there```

Kendrick Lamar Explains Good Kid, m.A.A.d city Artwork

Compton rapper uses childhood Polaroid to set tone for highly-anticipated debut.

Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar is getting ever closer to the release date of his highly-anticipated major label debut, Good Kid, m.A.A.d city. The official album art for the project was recently released online, and Lamar explained the significance of the artwork, which depicts him as a small child sitting at a table with his uncles and grandfather, in a new interview with Fuse.

"Two of my uncles, that's two of them, to the far right, that's my grandpa and a baby bottle next to a 40-ounce next to a gang sign, holding a kid," he said. "It's not just music to me. This is a story about the youth and the people that they call delinquents in my city. You look in the background and you see a picture on the wall of me and my pops... that photo just says so much about my life and how I was raised in Compton and the things I've seen through innocent eyes. You don't see no one else's eyes, but you see my eyes of innocence and trying to figure out what's going on."

The album is subtitled "A Short Film by Kendrick Lamar" and the Black Hippie ringleader emphasized that the entire project is meant to tell a story about his journey.

"It's really just a self-portrait. I feel I need this album in order to move on with my life, and I had negative vibes and demons haunting me," he said. "I had to come from something, come from a place that was negative and positive but the majority of it is a negative place. I went and put this message out in order for me to grow as a person. I'm glad I did, because it was a venting process to tell these stories I've never told."

Good Kid, m.A.A.d. city is slated to hit stores October 22 on TDE/Aftermath/Interscope. In the run up to the release, Lamar is currently headlining the first BET Music Matters hip hop tour.

Eminem Reunites With 8 Mile Cast for 10 Year Anniversary

The Detroit rapper reflects on his movie beginnings.

As one of the greatest hip hop movies of all time, 8 Mile is celebrating its ten year anniversary. And the biopic's front man is ready to reflect. Covering the most recent issue of Vibe, Eminem brought his cast together to look back on the entire filming experience while shedding light on the close knit relationships he maintains with his fellow actors. Joined by Mekhi Phifer, Anthony Mackie and others, Slim Shady gave a candid glimpse into what was going through his mind during the making of the movie.

"I definitely felt like I was about to embark on some s--t that was not necessarily up my alley," said the Detroit lyricist. "It was all brand new, and I'm so glad I had all of these guys around me. My hardest part was remembering the lines. 'Cause really, all I had to do was take myself back into the mind frame of how I felt before I got signed with Dre. It wasn't really too much to just be myself."

The hip hop celebrity also revealed that the movie provided an opportunity for bonds with Phifer, Mackie and others. After six weeks of rehearsals and additional production time, the actors became great friends and have kept in touch throughout the years. Em is currently working on his eighth studio album, which is yet to be named.lets wait for this YEAR BANGER!!!

Nicki Minaj on American Idol Blow Up: Mariah Started It!

The rapper’s camp says the pop diva instigated argument.

Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey
Behind-the-scenes drama at American Idol spilled into the spotlight earlier today when a video of Nicki Minaj telling off her fellow judge Mariah Carey at an audition in North Carolina leaked online. According to Nicki's camp, though, it was Mariah who fired the first shots.

In the tape, published by TMZ, Nicki is clearly at her wit's end, fuming about being disrespected by Carey. Sources close to the Young Money queen say that Carey had berated her before the clip began, calling her a "b--ch" multiple times. That's when Nicki, who was already fed up with Carey for her habit of grandstanding and name-dropping, snapped.

"Think I'm playin? Think this sh-t is a f---ing joke? Think it’s a joke? Think it’s a joke? Think it’s a joke? Say one more disrespectful thing to me, if you say one more disrespectful thing to me — off with your head!" Minaj is heard shouting.

Later in the tape, Mariah is heard slinging shots of her own.

"Oh why, WHYYYY do I have a three-year-old sitting around me?” she says.

If Idol producers were looking to make sparks fly this season, they may have gotten more than they bargained for.

Roscoe Dash Says He Wrote for Kanye West, Wale, But Didn't Get Credit

The ATL rapper claims he penned Yeezy's "To the World" and Wale's "Lotus Flower Bomb."

Roscoe Dash Says he wrote for Kanye, Wale Without Getting Credit
Here we go again. Just a few weeks after the Nas ghostwriting accusations died down, Roscoe Dash is sparking a new controversy. In a series of tweets (naturally), the Atlanta rapper lashed out at Kanye West and Wale, alleging he helped write recent songs for them but didn't receive any credit.

Roscoe started his tirade by claiming he helped write Kanye's "To the World," the opener to the just-dropped G.O.O.D. Music compilation album, Cruel Summer, featuring R. Kelly. "Everybody go get the G.O.O.D album and listen to #1 then watch @kanyewest interview ... & tell me y I'm not on the credits," he wrote this morning, linking to this Kanye interview posted to WorldStarHipHop.

In the interview, Kanye discusses the collaborative process behind Cruel Summer. "One track might have 30 people's opinions on it," he says. "It's not just about a tracklist and a name, it's about the communal style of work." Yeezy goes on to shout out the many artists that appear on the album, but he doesn't mention Dash.

Roscoe also pointed to Wale and Miguel's smash duet "Lotus Flower Bomb" as another example of a song he penned but didn't receive credit for. "Same s--t with @Wale lotus flower bomb," he wrote. "I wrote that for him b4 he even signed to Ross & it went #1...but nobody would kno that cuz I'm not in the credits."

"Can't do favors for n---as bcuz no matter how humble and generous u r to ppl n---as will take everything u have," Roscoe continued. "Even n---as u look up to. The most talented ppl get the least credit for everything and the crazy part is they put in the MOST work. But EVERYTHING must eventually come to the light...I'm only speaking on this publicly bcuz there are so many ppl who wanna be apart of the industry but dnt [sic] kno half of the s--t that goes on."

Later on, Roscoe tweeted that he'd talked to Wale about the matter and specified that he didn't write Wale's parts on "Lotus Flower Bomb." "After getting off the phone with @wale I feel like I need to clarify I WROTE THE HOOK for lotus flowerbomb' not his verses," he wrote.

He didn't have a similar disclaimer for Kanye's "To the World," however. "If u listen close, my adlibs are STILL in the song," Roscoe claimed.

Kanye and Wale have yet to comment on the matter publicly. However, a couple of hours after Roscoe's initial post, the latter tweeted, "N---as be wellin [sic] on twitter."

We don't know if Roscoe's claims are true, but we certainly can't argue with Wale there.

Kanye West Sex Tape Being Shopped

Second Kanye West Sex Tape on the Market?

Report says another video shows the hip hop star in double the action.

Kanye West
Kanye West's sex tape catalog goes deeper than we previously thought. After news of a lascivious clip of the rapper with an 18-year-old "Kim Kardashian look-a-like" broke last Friday, TMZ reports that it's not one but TWO tapes that are making the rounds.

Reportedly, both tapes were recorded years ago with 'Ye's exes. The second one is said to be twice as long as the first at a full 40 minutes long.

Although an anonymous third party is in possession of the tapes and has been actively attempting to sell them, Kanye's lawyers have already sprung into action to try to stop distribution of the videos in any form. A screen shot from the first tape, first reported on by RadarOnline, has drawn a pointed warning letter from the office of Lisa M. Buckley of Pryor Cashman Attorneys at Law.

"Be advised that the Screen Shot, as well as the Tape from which the Screen Shot was taken, were illegally obtained and believed to have been stolen from Mr. West’s computer," the letter read. "Posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and otherwise disseminating the stolen Screen Shot and/or other materials on the Tape constitute actionable violations of Mr. West’s rights of privacy and publicity."

Kanye is still trying to figure out how and by whom the tapes were stolen. In the event of a sale, he plans to throw the book at all parties.

In 2007, Kanye's current girlfriend Kim Kardashian settled with Vivid Entertainment for $5 million dollars after it purchased and distributed her own infamous sex tape.

A leaked video shows rapper’s contentious exchange with lawyer.

Lil Wayne Gets Hostile During Lawsuit Deposition

Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne isn't making life easy for Quincy Jones III. Weezy is in the process of suing the producer over the 2009 documentary centered on the rapper's life, and in leaked deposition videos, the Young Money captain is seen refusing to cooperate with Jones' attorney.

In the videos, obtained by
TMZ, Wayne is brusque, even hostile, toward Jones' representative Pete Ross of the law firm Brown George Ross. Sitting at a table in a grey Trukfit hoodie pulled over his head, he refuses to answer basic questions and claims not to recall major events in the recent past. Asked if he served eight months in prison at Rikers Island or had the best-selling album of the year in 2008, Weezy simply says "I don't know."

At one point, Wayne even makes what could be interpreted as a threat against Ross. Fed up with the questioning, he looks the lawyer in the eye and gestures toward the judge in the room who has been moderating the interview.

"You know he can't save you in the real world, right?" Wayne says.

Asked if the comment was a threat, he declines to elaborate.

Despite participating in much of the filming of the project, Wayne brought the lawsuit against QDIII because the producer allegedly used his music in the film without consent.

Lil Wayne Breaks Elvis Presley's Billboard Record

Weezy's 109 Hot 100 songs tops the the King.

Lil Wayne, Elvis Presley
Lil Wayne is the new Elvis Presley when it comes to Billboard hits. The inimitable MC from New Orleans has just surpassed the king of rock in total number of songs to land on the Hot 100.

"Celebration," the latest single from Game, is the 109th song to make the chart with Wayne appearing as either a lead or featured artist. Presley's record was 108 spanning between 1958 and 2003.

Forty-two of Weezy's charting singles were his own, while 67 of the others came from his long list of guest appearances.

To date, the only artist or group with more hits than the YMCMB captain is the cast of Glee. The singing actors from the hit Fox series have accumulated a whopping 204 charting singles since the show premiered in 2009.

Cash Money Records boss Birdman issued a statement praising his star artist.

"This is a true milestone in Lil Wayne's career and the legacy of YMCMB. Surpassing Elvis Presley is a testament to Wayne's creativity and innovation in music over the years. We look forward to 109 more."
